Lightweight Portable Stage

Lightweight portable stage riser platforms or demountable stages are popular with church bands and choirs, for schools and education facilities, and for mobile performers that are looking for a raised stage deck system that is easy to use and can withstand the inevitable knocks and dings of daily use.

Unlike many portable stage packages currently on the UK market, Stage Concepts' range of lightweight portable stage products are designed and built in Europe from the highest grade aluminium and tested to the ultra-strict TUV standards to ensure reliability and long working life.

The Spider Deck750 1m x 1m portable stage deck offers the user a modular stage solution that is a physical size and weight to allow for single-person construction. They are easy to carry and set up with no special tools or mechanical knowledge, with the interchangeable riser bases allowing you to have several height options for a single platform.

Portable Modular Staging

Designed as versatile modular stage platforms, our portable stage systems feature a simple-to-use deck-to-deck levelling system which performs the dual function of pulling multiple platforms together tightly and limiting their independent vertical movement to ensure a flat and even stage surface.

Modular stage systems provide you the freedom to include or remove any number of single platforms from a large stage build to accommodate the available floor space and the required performance area. This is especially useful for touring performers as the overall stage size can quickly be altered to suit different venues with zero compromises to its functionality.

For use as staggered choir risers and for music stages with raised drum risers, the modular design of our lightweight portable stage allows for different heights of riser leg systems to be used at the same time, allowing for any number of stage layout var

Our pre-packaged lightweight portable stage systems make things nice and simple for prospective buyers as they include all the necessary fittings and clamps, anti-slip stage deck platforms, and stage riser leg units, all in a wide selection of popular surface dimensions and heights.

Packaged stage systems from 40cm and higher will include either single or dual stairs or stage step units for convenience and safety, allowing easy stage access for performers and equipment. For stages of 60cm and above we offer safety handrails to fit both the stage decks and the stage steps to provide a safe performance area.

For the easy storage and transport of our portable stage systems there is a handy wheeled trolley unit with straps that is designed to carry up to fifteen Spider Deck750 1m x 1m platforms, or for touring users there are custom fit flightcases which offer enclosed transport and protection for six Spider Deck750 and six riser leg units, which is ideal for keeping your portable stage system in the best condition.

Portable Stage Accessories

For a professional appearance to your mobile stage system we have a range of straight or pleated stage skirts with simple hook and loop fixing which are sized to completely hide the risers and extend around the entire stage.

The use of stage skirts allows you to hide cables out of sight and gives a much smarter appearance overall to your stage system, and they come in a large selection of sizes to suit any of our pre-packaged portable stage sets.

We have lower-cost black polyester stage skirts for general use, or a professional molten fabric pleated stage skirt which is heavyweight with a black velour appearance that is ideal for higher profile productions and corporate events where a pleated skirt will greatly enhance the overall look.

We offer a range of easily attached stage safety railings including angled handrails for attaching to the step and stair units, and handy extras from clip-on edge trims to additional stage clamps.

Frequently Asked...

Why would I use lightweight staging?

Lightweight staging can be used for many applications, including; live band performances, school activities, conferences, and church choir use. It is highly portable and is usually selected when the stage needs to be easily transported in smaller vehicles between venues, or when it needs to be stored in smaller areas.

The low weight and smaller size make the set-up process simple, as components can be moved with ease and fewer people are required to construct the stage.

What height are lightweight staging platforms?

Our riser-type mobile staging systems are available in fixed heights of 20cm, 40cm, 60cm, 80cm and 100cm to suit all settings and requirements. These stage risers are interchangeable with the stage deck platforms so a selection of heights can be achieved with the same decks.

For example, a solo performer may have four stage platforms, creating a nice 4m x 4m performance area, and have 20cm risers and 40cm risers for them, allowing the stage height to be changed easily to suit different locations and events.

How do I assemble lightweight staging?

Lightweight staging is quick and easy to assemble. Each stage panel top surface connects with a stage riser leg unit of the desired height, and these lock together for stability.

When using more than one stage deck, the use of deck levellers provides a flat performance surface, removing any potential trip hazards. These fit into the stage decks accessory side slots and are adjusted using an Allen key.

Once the decks are assembled, deck-to-deck locking clamps are used between the deck ends to lock the units together. This stops any unwanted horizontal movement of the individual stage decks when grouped together.

Safety handrails are connected using their attached thumbwheel clamps and an Allen key bolt to ensure they stay in position. In fact, the Allen key is the only tool required to build any of our mobile stage systems, making them as simple as can be.

How expensive is lightweight staging?

The cost of modular stage sets depends on the size and height of the platforms needed. The price will also vary if popular extras are needed, such as handrails, steps and stage skirts. We offer portable stage for sale in a wide selection of ready-to-go packages which lets you see the cost of most systems at a glance.

What shape stage can I make with lightweight staging?

With our lightweight riser staging, you can create any size of stage platform to suit your needs. The bolt-together design is self-supporting per deck, so the overall system size is anything you need it to be.

We offer 1x1m and 2x1m lightweight stage platforms, and these can be easily clamped together to make your desired size or shape, though they are only available in a square or rectangular format. For specialist shapes such as circles you would need to look at our heavy-duty staging systems.

What weight can lightweight staging take?

Our lightweight staging has an extremely sturdy design and is made of high-quality aluminium, so can take an impressive weight load. A Spider 1x1m stage platform for example has a load-bearing capability of 500kg/m2. They also have the benefit of being portable and lightweight, weighing only 12kg. with enough stage decks joined together, they are more than capable of supporting the weight of a vehicle, or groups of people.

What is a portable stage?

Traditional stages in schools and churches for example were always built-in and made from wood, usually located in a hall. This simply doesn't fit with modern building design, where space is at premium and room need to accommodate a variety of functions.

Portable stage systems are designed to offer a professional stage area for live performances and events which can be easily put together and dismantled after an event for transport or storage.

These lightweight portable stage decks are usually an aluminium framework with tough plywood tops and easy-to-fit pole legs or riser base systems. They are extremely simple to use and require no specialist tools or experience, making them ideal for many different situations.

When it comes to a choice between portable and permanent staging, the benefits of a mobile staging system are huge, allowing use for outdoor events, and for the stage to be set up in different ends of a hall to best suit that particular performance and audience size.

What are stage risers?

Though the term stage riser is used as a general term for stage platforms by many suppliers, this is incorrect. A stage riser is specifically the type of collapsible leg system found on our lightweight Deck750 portable stage.

These stage risers come in heights of 20cm, 40cm, 60cm, 80cm, and 100cm, and are designed to fit the matching 1m x 1m stage platform.

Unlike the scaffold pole type fixed height legs that come with the heavier-duty stage systems, stage risers use an umbrella-type folding mechanism which allows them to collapse down for easy transport. They unfold to form a rigid, multi-legged base that many users prefer for its compact nature and lower cost.

The 1m x 1m stage platforms offer the convenience of being able to fit in most cars easily, while the folding leg risers are extremely compact and lightweight. The stage riser system allows a fairly large stage package to be transported and set up with ease.

Can you build your own stage?

Well yes obviously building a stage from scratch is an option, though this was only really ever done in older schools and theatres, and were usually built completely from wood as a permanent installation.

For portable stage systems, it works out far more cost-effective to use a product such as our PD Deck750 platforms, and will also ensure that your stage build meets all the necessary safety requirements for weight loading and fire regulations.

These portable stage systems are purposely designed to be put together and taken apart thousands of times with tough extruded aluminium frames and a range of easy-to-use clamp fixings to make each build a quick and painless experience.

The benefits of professional mobile staging over any type of DIY build or permanent stage installation are huge, saving you money, time, and providing a level of durability and flexibility that should make it your first choice.
