Mobile Staging
From our compact riser stage systems with their convenient concertina-style folding leg units, to the heavy-duty Deck750 platforms which can be used as portable and permanent staging, we can accommodate any requirement, be it ‘off the shelf’ or completely custom.
Choosing between a folding stage system or the more substantial staging platforms will depend on many different factors, and our experts will guide you in either direction once provided with all the requirements you have, and how the stage is to be used
While both types of portable stage are designed for professional use and have the highest safety and quality ratings available, there are differences between an ultra-lightweight and a heavy-duty design that can influence what will be the best longterm choice.
Portable and Permanent Staging
With lightweight aluminium frames and tough resin-faced plywood tops, all of our staging for sale is suitable for either fixed installation or a life on the road. The popular riser stage systems are ideal for anything from shop displays to live music performances or awards ceremonies, with their simple folding leg units offering fast setup and space-saving storage. The smaller 1m x 1m tops can easily fit into most cars and can be carried by a single person which is both convenient and cost-saving, allowing even a large mobile stage package to be constructed with just one or two people in a short time.
For more commercial usage or touring shows, the heavier structure and larger surface area of the fixed leg staging systems make better sense, with their 48mm tubular aluminium legs being easily substituted for standard scaffold poles if needed, and the deep side profile allowing for anti-deflection bracing underneath that simply isn't possible on the lightweight designs. This greatly reduces any surface flexing or bounce under even the heaviest loading or mass movement such as a dance performance. The ‘downside’ to the heavier systems is basically just logistics, as the larger 2m x 1m size and 30kg per deck weight means a van is required and at least two people to carry the platform safely. The actual setup is just as simple as the riser stage, with the pole legs fitted quickly with the stage deck’s built-in clamping units.
One huge benefit of heavy-duty staging over the riser stage platforms is that the table-like pole leg design provides you complete access underneath the stage once it's set up. For professional stages that will usually be 60cm or taller, this offers a large area for cables, flightcase storage, subwoofer speakers etc, that can all be hidden out of sight behind stage skirting. The cross-legged nature of the riser stage design prevents this type of access to anything more than cables, and is well worth considering when planning the purchase of a mobile stage system
Frequently Asked...What are stage platforms used for?
Stage platforms are perfect for providing a portable stage system. They are versatile and can be easily connected to make any shape stage. They are ideal for business conferences, universities, schools, hotels, and catwalks. They can be used for a number of applications, such as DJ acts, live band performances and drama productions.
What size stage platforms are available?
Our Stage Platforms come in a variety of sizes and shapes. The most popular sizes we offer are 1x1m and 2x1m, but we also supply traditional sizes such as 8’x4’ decks. The platforms come in a variety of shapes, most commonly square and rectangular, but we also offer circular and triangular shapes for the creation of catwalks and unique performance stage areas. All our portable stage platforms are highly versatile and can be easily connected together to make any size or shape stage required.
What types of stage platforms are there?
There are a range of stage platforms available to suit the needs of the job, and these come in varying sizes and shapes. We offer lightweight stage riser solutions for portability and low-weight requirements. We also provide heavy-duty stage systems that provide the most robust solution available and are designed for both mobile use or permanent installation.
What extras do I need with a stage platform?
A stage system’s height more than anything will dictate the extras required. Popular extras include; stage handrails, stage steps, stage skirts, clamps and extra collapsible risers.
A simple 4mx4m 20cm tall stage for example is absolutely fine to be used as it comes, and requires no additions. However, make that same stage 60cm tall and you have introduced both access and safety issues which will need to be rectified before use, which in this case would be a set of stage steps and some safety handrails. A stage skirt could also be added for a more professional appearance.
How much does a stage platform cost?
The cost of a mobile stage platform is approximately £200-£300 for 1m x 1m riser stage and £300 to £500 for the heavy-duty stage decks. These are TUV-tested professional stage platforms designed for a long working life. The cost of a complete portable stage system is simply a multiplication of the single platform cost, plus any additions such as stage step units and safety handrails, though there is generally a discount applied to full systems over the individual parts cost. Our team at Stage Concepts would be happy to discuss your requirements and give a cost estimate.
How do I assemble a stage platform?
All of our mobile stage platforms are designed to be assembled as quickly and simply as possible. Lightweight riser stage platforms can be easily connected to a folding riser leg unit of the desired height, which fastens to the underside of the deck. Once the platforms are all assembled, stage leveller blocks can be installed into the side slots (depending on the stage model they may be built-in), and the decks can be pushed together. A deck-to-deck locking clamp can be fitted between the stage deck frames to secure them together. If required, safety handrails can also be connected quickly to the stage perimeter using their built-in clamping system, and a set of suitable height stage steps can be attached
For the heavy-duty staging the process is near identical, just that the legs are individual poles rather than the single riser unit, and in place of the deck-to-deck clamps, sets of understage frame clamps and leg-to-leg clamps are used.
Both systems make use of tool-free clamps and only require an Allen key for fine adjustment of levellers and handrail fixings.
